- Taxon aus der Peronospora trifoliorum-Gruppe; der von Klenke & Scholler (2015) in Peronospora trifoliorum eingeschlossene Befall an Trifolium alpestre ist nicht näher mit dem Befall an T. medium (Typuswirt von P. trifoliorum) verwandt und bildet eine genetisch eigenständige Sippe (García-Blázquez et al. 2008).
