- Aktuell in fast allen Regionen (außer Mecklenburg-Vorpommern), wärmeliebender als die sehr ähnliche Schwesterart Onthophagus joannae Goljan, 1953. Art der offenen bis halboffenen Landschaft, auf mageren Weiden und Ruderalflächen, von der Ebene bis ins Bergland.
