Comment on taxonomy
Bei den in der letzten Roten Liste als verschiedene Arten geführten Formen Aquatische (A. amphibius) und Terrestrische Schermaus (A. scherman) handelt es sich nach neueren genetischen Untersuchungen doch um eine Art (Kryštufek et al. 2014). A. scherman wird damit genauso wie der früher verwendete Name A. terrestris als Synonym von A. amphibius angesehen (Wilson et al. 2017).

In der letzten Fassung der Roten Liste wurde die Aquatische Schermaus in die Kategorie „Vorwarnliste“ und die Terrestrische Schermaus in die Kategorie „Ungefährdet“ eingestuft.
